For a one-week city trip, the 35 GB plan (5 GB per day) is plenty. For two weeks across Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City, pick 75 GB for 15 days. Staying a month or working remotely? Most hotels, tour operators, and Grab drivers in Vietnam reach you on Zalo or WhatsApp. Keep your home SIM active in your phone for calls to your usual number and to receive banking OTPs, with cellular data turned off on that line.

Validity on the ETravelSim Vietnam eSIM starts the day you begin using it in Vietnam, not the day you buy or install it. You can purchase weeks in advance, install the QR code at home before flying, and the timer only starts when your phone connects to the Vietnamese network on arrival. Installing at home is the safer option because you'll know before boarding the eSIM is set up correctly. Don't delete the eSIM profile after installation — reinstallation may not be possible.

Install the eSIM at home by scanning the QR code from your email. When you land in Vietnam, select the eSIM for mobile data and turn on Data Roaming for that line. It connects to Viettel automatically, and your plan's validity starts at that first connection.

Your QR code arrives by email right after purchase. Install it before you travel, while connected to Wi-Fi:

1. Open Settings → Mobile Service (or Cellular) → Add eSIM.
2. Tap Use QR Code and scan the QR code from your email. If you can't scan it, tap Enter Details Manually and type the SM-DP+ address and activation code from the same email.
3. Give the new line a label such as "Travel" and keep your home SIM as your primary line for calls and SMS.
4. When you arrive, choose the travel eSIM for Mobile Data and turn on Data Roaming for that line.
